Washington DC

    Yulia Tymoshenko and BYuT Deputies conducted an official visit to Washington, D.C. from February 28 to March 3, 2007. Ms. Tymoshenko and Dr. Hryhoriy Nemyria met with U.S. Vice President Dick Cheney and National Security Advisor Stephen Hadley, Secretary of State Condaleeza Rice, Senator Richard Lugar and Representatives of the Ukrainian Congressional Caucus. Ms. Tymoshenko also met with business leaders and a group of more than 300 members of the Ukrainian diaspora community.

    Paris

    On 4 March 2009, Yulia Tymoshenko made a one-day working visit to Paris. She held meetings with President Nicolas Sarkozy, Prime Minister François Fillon and Minister of Economics, Industry and Employment Christine Lagarde.

    In Paris on 29 March, 2007, Yulia Tymoshenko was awarded the International Prize for Political Courage at the Sorbonne by Politique Internationale. The award was given for her work as an opposition leader both during and after the Orange Revolution. Ms. Tymoshenko also met with senior members of the French Government.


    London

    Yulia Tymoshenko, the leader of Ukraine’s opposition party (BYuT), met with the Rt. Hon. Baroness Margaret Thatcher on 21 September 2007 in London. The former-prime ministers discussed the forthcoming parliamentary election in Ukraine, which is scheduled for 30 September 2007 and the long-term reform program designed to bring Ukraine up to European standards.

    Munich

    Ukrainian Prime Minister Yulia Tymoshenko participated in the 45th Conference on Security Policy entitled "NATO, Russia, Oil & Gas and the Middle East: The Future of European Security." During the conference, Tymoshenko discuss the financial crisis, Ukraine’s energy security and its participation in collective defense systems. Yulia Tymoshenko also held a number of bilateral meetings, in particular, with U.S. Vice President Joseph R. Biden, President of the World Bank Robert B. Zoellick, President of the European Commission Jose Manuel Barroso and Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk.
