Javier Solana, European Union High Representative for the Common Foreign and Security Policy (CFSP), today had a working lunch with the Ukrainian prime minister, Yulia Tymoshenko.
Mr Solana congratulated Mrs Tymoshenko on her new government and on the important work she has already started to perform.

The High Representative and the Prime Minister
discussed domestic issues, in particular the
constitutional reform, EU-Ukraine relations, joint
efforts on trying to settle the Transnistria
conflict, energy, relations with Russia and other
matters of common interest.
Mr Solana underlined that political stability was now crucial for Ukraine and that he was encouraged by Mrs Tymoshenko's commitment to reforms, to work as a team with the
President and build a constructive relationship with the opposition. He recalled that the EU has always supported Ukraine and would continue to do so.
