The fight for ukrainian democracy

Message: I read with much interest the April 21st article on BYuT's website discussing the increasingly urgent need for constitutional changes in Ukraine's government. I have followed as closely as possible your valiant struggle over the last several years to bring the fruits of democracy to your people. As you quite accurately pointed out to a group of journalists recently in Strasbourg, it is a shame the last round of Ukrainian elections did not bring about the rebalancing of authority needed to conduct an effective government. Ukraine obviously needs the reforms you are championing and I heartily applaud your goal of seeking those constitutional reforms by the end of this calendar year. The fact that you are reaching out to the Venice Commission for guidance and assistance proves beyond doubt that your motives are above reproach and that you continue to give highest priority to the best interests of the Ukrainian people. As you have repeatedly said, the people deserve the best from their leaders. The historical record is clear, Yulia: you have always done your best for the people of Ukraine. I am certain your efforts at constitutional reform will be met at every turn by your opponents and I am equally certain you will bring to this endeavor the same indefatigable courage and selfless dedication you have brought to every fight you have ever waged on behalf of your country and your people. Good luck in this struggle and may God bless you!
